I also love moose hunting. Wife and I both grew up on moose meat, so it is always high on our list every year when planning the fall hunting.

Black bear are no problem. Was out a couple nights ago looking for a big boar and we saw half a dozen in a couple hours. Lots of bears. I am rather picky now after almost 55 years of black bear hunting. Has to be a bruiser. My two best spring boars weighed 462 and 511 pounds.

I’ll get back in the future. I saw stone sheep when chasing moose. What really struck me hunting in there was the vastness and remoteness. Here’s my moose.

Nice bull Southcity. There is some remote country left up there, that is for sure.....but it is decreasing every year as new access is created for mining, oil and gas, logging, etc. There were some pretty significant changes to the moose seasons up there this past year and the closed caribou completely in that region. Indigenous land claims and politics are really having an impact in the province these days. There are going to be significant changes coming down the pike and we are not going to like them.

There are indeed some beautiful lodges up in that country now. Probably 90% of the outfitting businesses up there have changed hands in the last few decades. Should have seen that country back when I first started to hunt up there back in the late 70's. It was awesome!!

Mate is at Queen Charlotte lodge, wherever that may be. They are getting some great fishing with Salmon and Halibut the main targets so far. Looks like stunning country

Those islands are about half way up the BC coast. They are now called Haida Gwaii...not the Queen Charlottes. After all we cannot have anything with a "colonial" name now can we, so the rename is what the local indigenous people, the Haida, want the islands called. It is indeed a beautiful place with fantastic scenery and great fishing. The islands are loaded with tiny Sitka blacktail deer and also produce some huge black bears. Very wet environment with some incredible old growth forests.

Welcome aboard
