Welcome Roggom, enjoy your time here. I have been on the side if the Rockies above Denver and couldn't bloodywell breath due to the rarified air (flew in and out in 2 days so no time to acclimatise). If you came to where I live (less than 10 metres above sea level) you would probably have the same problem in reverse and have to use a spoon to take a breath because the air would be so thick for you. Mind you you could also run and jump twice as fast / high as you normally do. Lastly Sydney is no where near New Zealand it is 35,000 kilometres away (if you take the eastern route).
