Work Just Gets In The Way
Welcome to the forum.
Welcome aboard, I'm sure gonna miss the relatively cruisey hunting/general outdoor lifestyle we have here, I'm off to Sweden next year. No spearfishing, and no bowhunting, mmmm. Anyway, best of luck with the licence and relocating!!
The AK is an issue more for the stock then the mags, you are restricted to 7 round mags for semi-auto rifles in calibers larger then .22,Pistols require an endorsement which requires you to be a member of a pistol club and to fulfill a number of other requirements that will take a decent amount of effort, money and time.
The others should not be an issue once FAL is arranged.
The Visitor FAL issued by the NZ Police is valid for 12 months or until you leave the country. That should give you plenty of time to sort out a NZ FAL. I bought three rifles back last Christmas and they did not blink an eye - but they did ask how long I was staying and I have two passports so the Visitor Permit was issued on my non NZ passport.
I am looking at the same scenario in 2014 (after a temporary holiday next month), as a NZ citizen returning permanently with various firearms and never having a NZ FAL or a FAL from any other jurisdiction . . . . . so please keep me posted.
Welcome to the forum Redgie, good luck with the firearm importation, I like your choice of firepower!!!!!
While I might not be as good as I once was, Im as good once as I ever was!
