If its clean then maybe the round? some 22lr semi's like em hot 1200fps+,

Like gonetropo said a bigger caliber if you taking on a goats/pigs for the animals sake.

It's fairly newly, perhaps just 300 rounds through so far. It was a cycling a little bit last night so maybe needed to be broken in.
I'll give it a clean and light oil this weekend and see if that improves things.
I'm using Eley subsonic hollows.
From what I've seen subsonics are meant to be okay for the Rossi, though I have some high velocity rounds as well that I could try . . .

I had a Rossi 22 mag that was light striking the primer. Is it failing to eject? failing to load? I'm not sure their quality control is exactly excellent.
