    Welcome to the forum, I just moved from there so some pretty good DOC blocks if you dont mind a bit of a drive, plenty of goat curries on the side of the road, vehicle security will be a problem where ever you park. I will give a few mates a call, no promises but I will try and link you up.

    The locals are very protective of "their" land and will abuse you and tell you to go elsewhere even if its public land. Ive notified DOC a few times of adjacent land owners keeping people out of public land but they do jack shit about it. Farmers are very unreceptive in the area too. Id head off to the north and south Pureora to hunt where you will only bump into other likeminded hunters on the roads in and have decent sized blocks to explore.

    Ask the dude hiding in the bush and doing an armo in Te Kuiti. He gets around. Clown. Used to kill billies at Te Anga and go back 2 weeks later and get the boars feeding on them.
