    Maimai mounted video camera

I use a hand-held video in the maimai, but I want to mount a wide angle camera on the maimai roof or similar. I have heard that go-pro is a pretty good option. Anybody have any suggestions?. I would also like to use this camera in the bush - maybe rifle mounted.

The go pro batteries dont last too long but film verry well. have not tried one on the scope but it has crossed my mind. and am planing on trying it later in the year.
If you get two if them you can film in 3D

if your shotgunning use a go-pro attached to your hat or ear muffs, brilliant quality and sound. We also run with a HD camcorder on a tripod looking out over the pond, you want a few different angles and then we have a bloke holding another HD camcorder, the good thing about the go-pro and tripod mounted cam is you dont need to piss about videoing, watching your mates doing all the shooting!!!!

I would also recommend the go-pro for bush stalking mounted on your hat, or scope, but might get caught up in the shit. For decent footage out past say 60m you really need a good handycam.

For shits n giggles I have one of these sunglasses cameras in black :

I use mine for pistol shooting, records in 720 and doesn't do too bad a job. Quite cheap (US$45), and it gives a great point of view. GoPro's are great but like the sunglasses camera have a fixed wide angle lens, and as mentioned, can chew through the batteries. Sunglasses cameras give an interesting perspective, are cheap but can be fiddly to set up to remove the date and time stamp.

All the other video shot I use my JVC video camera which has a great zoom lens function.

I just brought two GoPro Hero3 Black cameras for the same thing and to checkout my fishing spots, one works perfectly fine the other not so much, it has several faults that are affecting some key features, I went onto the GoPro users forum and I wish I had done this before purchasing as there are hundreds of performance issues that owners are trying to deal with, on the plus side the one that is working fine is awesome, will post some footage when I have more time

I have a GoPro and am really impressed so far. As Twoshot said the batteries aren't awesome (I get two and a half hours out of each one) but I have two as they're like $35.

There are endless mounting options and they come with a waterproof housing.

I have a suction cup mount for my 4x4 and I have a head strap mount for hunting (only used it at night so far for possums so I can't really comment on how it'd work for that).

I'd recommend them to anyone if that's the kind of camera you're after.

Here's a couple of my test vids so you can check out the quality (make sure you hit 1080p).
You can see for bunny shooting etc you probably wouldn't be able to see them at any distance. Ducks would be even further away.

The go-pro is mounted on my mates hat. Some of the other footage is from a hand held but the stuff where you can see the gun etc is go-pro

Give me a few minutes and I'll load up a bit of footage taken with a GoPro Black from Opening weekend. Had camera on a gorilla pod on the maimai roof...
If it's not a first round hit you need to practice more

Very nice!. Thanks for sharing. I find it easier to shoot ducks than film them (properly)

Yeah - that is what I'm looking for. Something to compliment the hand-held. Now I just need to figure out all the editing secrets - although I do like the raw footage , warts and all. I seem to get lots of shots of the camo as I hunker down though. While I was waiting for your video to upload, I watched a bit of someone elses footage on you-tube, and was amazed at the hunters standing out the front of the maimai, kids and all, and faces watching the ducks as they circled. And they still shot some ducks!!
