Year old sassies - yeah or na

Did a clean out of the deep freeze and found a stash of sassies I forgot about. Prob a bit over a year old and a little freezer burnt but not to bad looking. Wondering if they are worth cooking up or best left for dog tucker? Were made from a preservative free recipe.

They will be fine to eat. The freezer burnt bits might have a different texture when cooked, you could always use them in a sausage casserole if that's an issue.

Save them for the BBQ when 'friends & relatives' are being fed.

If they smell legit when defrosted then they are legit.

I reckon you can taste the freezer burn in meat when you have a fair bit of it. Venison in particular. I don’t like, the dogs do though.

Most freezer burn is caused by the way the wife ransacks the freezer looking for her choice of meats and damages the fuck out of the wrappings...We have way to many choices of meat in the freezer to even contemplate eating outdated meat or freezer burn.

Mates and I pulled an enormous saussie making/packing session back in the 80's, after tipping over 3 big old stags. Added an old mutton to the brew and out came 120 dozen venison sausages. Cut 4 ways it was still 30 doz each. Was eating and taking them to BBQ's for about 4 years, so yeah. A year in the freezer no worries
P.S. they weren't that amazing, so have stuck to younger animals when its time to refill the freezer.
