If you are looking at fully free floating the barrel, you might want to consider a second point to secure the action to the stock. The 10/22 only has a single action screw in it's standard form, but you already know that.
I drilled and tapped a hole in the back of my 10/22 action that doubled as a cleaning port so you can pass a rod through the action, and also secured the back of the action in the stock. The threaded hole got a round head screw put in it, and the back of the stock relieved so the screw would fit with lots of play. That cavity then got filled with bedding compound to a perfect fit.
I'd take photos, but I got rid of the 10/22 in favour of a CZ.
