    That's awesome wingman!
If you don't mind me asking, where are you sourcing your walnut from?

On the basis that the last time I spotted wingman in the wild he was walking around a gun show with what looked like several Lee Enfield foreends. I'd say random boxes of parts at gun shows?

All over.. like a squirel hiding away nuts for later..
I have quite a stash of American walnut planks that an American friend shipped here as large crates with all his belongings in them back in the 80s when he moved to nz. He was told he couldn't import the wood so he made shipping containers from it instead.. ha!

I collect nz walnut slabs and English walnut whenever I see good stuff and have got a lot of different colours and grain types to try and match butts etc or do other repairs.
Yes I also pick up sported fore ends and butts at shows/auctions etc or buy complete sporters for donor furniture

This particular stock I found on a sporter that was listed on trade me a few years ago.. it was in rough shape and the pics were bad but I took a gamble and it paid off. Hiding under years of crud and linseed oil was the nicest piece of ripple walnut I've seen on a mk3 Enfield.
It has taken me over a year to find a piece to match it to make the front grip from, it was actually a piece of nz grown walnut but it matches perfectly.

Cheers, I thought it looked too good to be original but I suppose there must have been a few nice bits get through on some.

I need to start stockpiling some nice timber for all the one day projects I would like to do.

Currently have no .45 barrel blanks available as my barrel maker has been out of action.

Don’t know that anyone here is making 45 barrels at the moment, though I do have a mate who was going to import some. Did you know Kirk?

Yes spoke with him the other day, problem with that is the usa maker that they are importing from has been showing no stock of the .45acp blanks for 3 years now and no time frame as to when they will make more

A photo shoot today in a derilect old abandoned building of one of my favorite builds yet.
The donor was a 1917 BSA No1 Mk3* that was in great shape, unsanded wood retains its original linseed finish and metal work the original bluing. The botom metal has been rust blued and it is fitted with the correct Lanchester Mk1 SMG rear sight of the Stirling made production Delisle commando carbines.
