Thread: Sanblasting cabinet. SCA ?

Anyone running a Super Cheap Auto 100L bench top Sandblasting cabinet ?
And is it any good or complete POS ?

I don't need a flash one and I will only use it for small parts maybe weekly ( very rarely gun parts ! ) at best but monthly for sure.
These are cheap, don't take up a lot of space and come complete with everything to get operational.
I do still have the option of a 15 minute drive to a friends and use of a big flash foot control sandblaster is i have anything that won't fit in the 100 unit

I've got one, they are ok but the lighting is pretty average inside them I have a few of those cheap leds with magnets on the back to boost it . At $379 I'd wait till they had a sale though

They are OK. I sit an additional light on top looking in. The trick (essential) is to have a very good vacuum hooked up to it and things will remain clear as day in there. Oh and a good water trap.

Check out Topmaq prices, We had one at work used daily and it never missed a beat. Probably from the same factory in China.

I originally got one of the smaller bench top ones from toolshed (I think they all the same). I did the job but extraction was an issue as soon filled with floating dust so you struggled to see. I now have bigger floor mounted unit and hooked up a shower extractor fan, which works great.

I'm not expecting them to be great .... just good enough

Not sure what brand I have. I wish I had of silicone the joins when I put it together as it leaks sand onto the floor.
I also ended up using the gun off my pot blaster.
Definitely need a light.
Attaching a vacuum helps to see what you are doing

I went with a big free standing Ironside 220 litre cabinet sand blaster
Just running some glass at the moment that came with it
But will switch to garnet when I get to town and pick some up

Please post your experience with this. I’m keen to buy one as well.

Beats the heck out of my cardboard box, that's for sure.

Same as mine, should do the job, you might just find you need to add extraction so you can see inside..

My workshop is in my largely unused ( semi retired ) joinery workshop and i have plenty of extraction.
I just need to find a semi permanent location for it and hook it up to the nearest inlet

so...this water trap that is mentioned.....I assume thats a bit like a pot smokers bong??? air/dust is sucked through water trap and the particles are trapped in water to reuse later???

I have a machinery house benchtop unit. I made rubber seals that sit in holes that I cut on each side wall so I can pass a barrel and action through. My recommendation would be to pull it apart when new and put it back together with a good silicon or other seam sealant adhesive in every panel joint as mine leaks at every join, other than that its a pretty decent unit for the price. We use the same ones at work for specific alloys and blasting grits to avoid cross contamination on sensitive stuff, so I have seen 3 of them last in an industrial environment for 6 or 7 years now.
