What bomb are you trying to fit through that hole?
looks like an odd calibre, but i know nothing about pistol cals.
50 Beowulf - its a proprietary case.
Going a 45 ACP upper also which will need the fwd part of the upper opened up
Not my work but im sure I could be just as rough if I put my mind to it:D

From L to R, Rem 673 .350 Rem Mag, W Mk V .340 W/Mag, Surgeon Action, Rem 700 .308 and .223.
All rifles have High Tech Specialties stocks and stocks and metal, have been Cerakoted (but not the metal on the .308).
All have M/brakes of my design (the one on the .308 is a Proto-Type)
The two m-700's have www.lumleyarms.com.au DBM's (316Grade S/Steel)
etc, etc

FUCKING A!!!!!!!!!!!!
that has come out real nice:cool:
Thanks for the kind words Kokako!
As delivered, these properly Laid-Up Fiberglass stocks weigh in at around 21ounces or 1 1/4 pound for a Rem 700.
Stocks to suit others, can weigh a bit more. You will need to add some weight for a recoil pad, bedding compound and paint/Cerakote.
Have a look at Welcome to High Tech Specialties
Here is an image of a few of these stocks, as delivered and out of the mold, from different angles.

At present, I'm fitting another HTS to a Win Mod 70. I should do a pictorial type story on it as a guide to What To Do and How you bed a barreled action, to a new stock.
See how I go for time?
Doh!
Homer
Greg, at first I hit the like button but then I saw that scope...... man you need to get some special glass on top of that special rifle :)
G'Day Fella's,
Greg, what cartridge is your Ruger chambered for?
Doh!
Homer
its a 458 ACCREL from the forum accurate reloading, it is formed from RUM brass and is shortened and improved to give LOTT velocities from a standard long action.
using a magnum bolt face, it is a realy simple rechamber, run thru the sizer trim and shoot to bump out the shoulder and fireform. custom dies from hornaday, and some once fired 300 rum brass, and i was away.
greg
G'Day Greg,
OK, that explains the need for the 2 cross bolts and the extra (barrel mounted) recoil lug!
Real Nice and well done!!!
Doh!
Homer
i probabaly should have mentioned i am living in southland but from the NT so i wanted a dedicated buffallo/backup/following up injured rifle, that will give me the stopping power i need for a wounded and pissed buff!
SKINNY, whats not special about a loupie? or is that the point, its not special?
i use loupold for no other reason than their durability, and after sales support. no open sights so i need it to hold up to severe conditions and abuse.
cheers
greg
Bloody nice Greg. Your a craftsman. What does the devcon set like? Does work every batch? It looks like a metal set? I have never used it but have used the loctite A1 which is fickle but if ya get a good set will last for ever.
devcon steel is a 2 part mix that is used to fill holes in pistons!
the stuff sets like, well, steel.
it is a very good bedding material as it has practly no shrinkage as it sets, they also make an alluminium and a titanium mix, i mite get the titanium next time as it is very light, but bloody expencive!

Now painted black...green was a base to put a paterned black over but just went black in the end.
this was just an excuse to use a barrel I picked up cheap....so figured a cheap build was in order. under $500 for all the bits includeing the reamer (6.5x6mmRemAI) and it shoots the 140gr pills at 3K like a dream :)

$500 tac driver. Cant complain about that! Awesome leathel.
And built on a lathe from the Arc

$600 from trademe...
cases, 22-250AI, 243AI, 7x57,6.5x6mmRemAI and 6.5x284 (last three give an idea on case capacity)

I think Id prefer the longer neck on the 6mmAI.
Love the lathe D, its a ripper. Do you moly coat Leathel? Have you thought of HBN?
Nice work:cool:

$30 on rust bluing consumables, a new stock from the states, and a new sight bead, and good as new.
certainly looks a tad better :D
Nice job:thumbsup:
Great job on the Remmy there grue!
Very cool. Any chance of a basic write up on the rust bluing process and some detail/cost of where you got the parts to do it?
cheers
kj
Cheers guys, pretty damn happy how she came out.
Not a problem... did a write up for Rem870.com, will put it up as a new post.
That shotgun looks great. Nice stock.
Some awesome work on that shotgun, When I was 14 my dads mate gave me a old side by side and Its fore grip kinda blew off half way through opening weekend so I sellotaped it back on and kept using it till that Sunday night I decided that I need a new one and since I liked building stuff I thought I would have a crack, any way it took me 6 hours working on it and although it doesn't look great it worked which was the main thing.

Jeez Bill, that would almost double the weight of the scope! A+ for ingenuity though!
haha yea surprised how well it works
will help me decide weather i can be botherd sending it to leupold
ok , so not quite "gunsmithing " .... but more magazine related ...I have a gsg.22 semit auto with 10 shot mags .... to reload them is a little fiddly and if you don't have finger nails like me ... you need a little help , saw this on the net , so thought I would make one , .... small tool , but took a stupid amount of time , .... it gets put into a hole in the magazine follower so you can use you thumb to pull down the spring and just drop the rounds in ..... if you use your thumb to load at the range , all you can think about while aiming is your stinkin sore thumb .... hope the pics load ...

with me giving up farming soon and heading back to the workshop what better time to give the 8x57 a few mods.Attachment 32571after stripping down the action just getting to the point of sweating the rear sight mount offAttachment 32572at this point the barrel has had a 100mm chop just about to machine down to 14mm for the thread cut and using the first step in the barrel to square off on.Attachment 32573 a bit blurry but a quick shot of the threaded end ready to make end cap Attachment 32574Attachment 32575Attachment 32576 after a bit of lathe work the barrel has had 100mm removed a 14x1 thread cut and a end cap to suit. shaped and mounted the picatinny rail. rubbed a bit of cold blue on the exposed metal to stop the corrosion until i can get it down to taupo for a cera coat job. mounted the old bushnell on her to make her bush ready. the final job will see a custom made suppressor hanging off the end.
Mucko, it is very important that barrel threading is done concentric with the bore, not he outside of the barrel, as they are frequently not concentric as they come from the factory. The correct method is to set the barrel up in a 4 jaw chuck and clock the bore true using a neat fitting bore mandrel. Also make sure (with shims etc) that the bore is running true at the back of the spindle bore. Failure to do this could result in the bullet striking the suppressor baffles.
