75/15/10 black powder matters
Not as fancy as you guys but it’s light , stiff and got a bit of character , no idea what sort of wood it is

@Micky Duck ,good eyes , I use it for digging ,awesome tool for chipping down a bit of hard ground
If you find a nice piece of wood you fancy, cut it longer than you need and glue the ends before you store it to dry, stops it splitting. May still warp though.
Was out walking last night and a big Kowhai has fallen over , has some good looking branches for walking sticks , going back tonight with a saw , question do you strip the bark of now for drying or leave it on ?
one does see lance wood in bush someone has knotted for a walking stick in years to come-- another worth a try is akeake used by early maori for taiha
Ive found lancewood too flexible to really trust it with all my weight.
Kanuka is my favourite, akeake is nice for something a little different
Went back to the Kowhai tonight , pretty big tree about 400 dia base , still surprisingly hard to find some straightish branch’s , only came back with 2 potentials

I have my grandad's lancewood walking stick, and it fits me perfectly must be pretty old; he was a Kauri bushman and a gumdigger in his early days and was born in 1886
All I can say is thanks, pop
