    Yes it is illegal to shoot down drones, and no legal defence exists. Like if my wife or daughters were sunbathing on the farm and a drone with a camera was sitting just out of arm reach, I could do nothing about it. Technically the drone operator is committing a crime, but no way of proving it. If anyone thinks drones will not be "mistaken" for legitimate targets they are dreaming.
