The planes and torpedo boats had no markings, and the first Israeli fighter pilot identified and radioed back the ship was US. He refused to attack and returned to base and was arrested.

The Israelis have a history of this. In 1954 Israel planted bombs in buildings and left evidence to make it look like Egypt did it, but one of the bombs went off early and the Israelis were discovered. In 1986 they sent a false radio signal from Tripoli to make it look like the Libyans were behind the Berlin (?) discotheque bombing to get Reagan to bomb Libya.

If a false flag operation, why immediately put your hand up and contact Americans and tell them what you've mistakenly done?

I've heard it said that Mossad was behind the 9/11 attacks too. Just as St Nicholas can be down every single chimney at Christmas, "the evil Jew" can really be hiding under every bed when something goes wrong.

Do a google image search for the evil jew cartoons. Too distasteful to post here, but the hatred is WAAYYY out of proportion for that little piece of Middle Eastern real estate for it to be faintly justified as "anti zionism". Jewish conspiracy theories are a tried and tested form of a particular racism, directed against Jews, but they are not the enemy - easy to forget since NZ has not been targeted by terrorist attacks for many years.
