Of course it is. They publish whatever bullshit they want. If you want something done properly you have to do it yourself. Same goes for the media. You write it, They add their name, they get paid it gets published. Thats why media is what it is today...full of ex uni students....

i regularly suffer the herald online and the majority of stories that i read have terrible spelling and or grammar mistakes. the editor, who should be an expert and highly protective of his or her reputation/trade as an editor should be ashamed and embark on a solo pilgrimage of redemption across the largest and driest desert available at the time.

I attribute this to the ability to edit after they get the facts. Often it pays to screen shot an article as later when the real facts come out they can edit it to fit. The editor is not really needed. The editor used to be responsible for upholding the reputation of what was printed. They had to check facts, grammar and spelling as getting these wrong would damage their reputation or even lead to legal issues.

Nowadays in the rush to get it out there first, they don't waste time editing as they can fix it later. Spell checker helps too. And lets face it, half of the population now wouldn't know grammar and spelling issues anyway...let alone bother to get their facts correct.
