Um, how about when the rifle is loaded ? To me that says active hunting. If they were just walking in to hut, why is the rifle loaded ? Active hunting around midnight, on or near doc land is asking for trouble. At least it was not an innocent camper that was shot this time... My two cents says poaching. I know this area like the back of my hand. If they were heading IN to the dam BEFORE midnight I would say for sure they were spotlighting the road. The nearest hut is 4 hours from the road end and there is no way anyone would be leaving a quad parked up to go for a 'daylight' hunt in the bush, let alone near Shannon.
