I hear you on that one. Stay calm and you will sort it. Sounds like a landlord on power trip or who is anti gun...keep your nose clean and you will work through it.

I'd say if you went through the rules on what a landlord can do and can't do - they've actually stuffed up rather badly there. They have initiated a Police search in what I'd say is an attempt to intimidate, breached your right to the 'peaceable enjoyment' of the rental without undo harassment and disturbance, and even from the Police end of it if they have gone onto the property effectively requesting an inspection of the security of a firearms licence holder without sufficient notice so that's not ideal.
Sounds like a shocker of a situation to be in to be honest, and I can get the stress over it. Basically at this point from what you have said I can't see that you've done anything wrong with it from the layman's perspective and keeping the firearm(s) secure offsite while you wait for the required permissions etc to be sorted is the correct thing to be doing.
I would be checking out the tenancy rules on landlord access to the property and also doing a bit of research on what your rights are there in terms of the Police's involvement and how it relates to the landlord's requirements to treat their tenants in accordance with the rules. I'd then be going back to the landlord and politely asking for a 'please explain' on what they were thinking with kicking this off - and putting it in writing to them. Basically my concern is that if you have a rabid anti-gun nutter for a landlord, if you don't send the correct message back up, so that the landlord has had formal notice of what they can't do you'll be on their radar for more of what is effectively intimidation behaviour.
In all honesty, if nothing else happens from your end I'd be picking that the next step (if the landlord is going to be a complete tool) might be a 90-day no cause eviction which sucks for you if it happens. Not a lot you can do in that situation and I hope it doesn't come to that!
The thing that shits me the most is I volunteered the info that if and when I move in I'm gonna require a safe to be put in for security when we first looked at the pIace ?I was upfront and said security is a licence condition and is pay a installer and any repairs when we leave?.honesty the best policy my sister's black cats arse?? I repeat he was not here for a security check but to estsablish if I had a gun here ?he said he was sent at the landlords request??![]()

I would have asked him what bit of legislation he was running off - and if he couldn't state any I would have asked what the "false complaint" requirements were!![]()
Check tenancy agreement....then contact tenancy tribunal so rocket is put up landlords arse....the thought to send police on an errand just sounds wrong...something fishy going on here. Personally I would be contacting police for a please explain. I mean they aren't at beck n call to search for whips n chain type bondage gear???? Landlord is overstepping by a giant leap if nothing in tenancy agreement.

I'd put money on the cop being a mate of the landlord and this was a favor for a box of beers.
