You need a RealMe account to access thd Register, but the basic non-photo account works fine. When setting up RealMe it tries to steer you toward getting the photo option, which I was willing to do, but the amount of faffing around discouraged me and I didn't bother. Had no issues since just using the basic RealMe.

Exactly what I did, but the old fashioned way. Printed out copies of registered firearms and filed those. The way it's going you never know when the Registry could crash and burn. Best to have backup in case of dispute.

Out for dinner last night, sitting beside a FAL holder and asked what he thought of the new firearms laws.
He said what laws so I mentioned the registration.
He looked at me puzzled and said “what registration”
So there’s at least one FAL holder that was unaware of the registration etc.

Should have asked him if he'd heard about the great confiscation of three years ago.

Likewise, the Walther Running Boar, is a bolt-action, I know, because I have one. But apparently, they’re a break-action…

    Rock on…
Honestly I think they are just winging it to be seen to be doing something. Alot of this data they are collecting will be worthless and might even work against them in a prosecution.

This has come into my safe for safe keeping, serial number but no maker or model. Rang the authority they said will have to take to a gunsmith for identification. I know its a Norinco .22LR as it has a JW15 magazine. So for now I cannot register it.

And who pays for that? Will it need a name engraved?
All those with dogs waiting no longer fear death. Those with many dogs waiting even welcome it in it's time.

You do have to be a little careful with these, the Norinco outfit is a group of companies and some of them produced under the Norinco name as well as their own label (Polytech being the biggest culprit here, with samples having Polytech only, Norinco, and Polytech - Norinco on them). Also, the JW15 was a copy of a design that was itself flogged from Europe by a Philippines outfit - so it may not be a Chinese-sourced firearm at all. The Norinco semi-auto rimfires were another example of this, I had one from Norinco at one stage that I had to flog parts off a Philippines-made version with a buggered bolt to keep it going after the mags and trigger fell apart. There should be some identifying mark on it somewhere...
