Yeah, that should be in truths... Afollowedbyc's is getting a legendary reputation for being completely incompetent. You wonder how long will it be before they are completely rebuilt at hideous expense. They are actively injuring certain poor people now through not following their own law, its a sh1teshow.

Registered mine as started licence renewal.
Found Realme to be the worst of the two sites.
The registry site could be improved not to intuitive just like the terrible stuff we have to use at work, trademe would go broke if it was as bad.

LoL an online process which isnt really, you still got to ring them.
You still have to take that piece of paper to get signed by a cop
Even after jumping through all the Real Me hoops
Least the person on the phone was friendly and helpful
A work in process i guess

That is the most accurate description I've heard yet, an online process which isn't really. Damn I'm not looking forward to it. Even on the phone it's going to be hard, I can see it coming.

Fore warned is fore armed. Theres obviously major issues - cos everyone has posted major issues - so why shouldnt someone who has yet to indulge be sceptical?

Only issue I had was not knowing what the numbers were, nowhere that I saw said it related to how many rounds in the mag. That was a very dumb move on the part of the site builders.

No, can just see what's coming. If you have standard factory products sweet. One offs, not so much... It will be fun.

Just had Security Check (B&C) so a triggering event. AO's hint when using the Register said Less is More. He reckoned put minimal info in and let the "machine" do the work. We shall see. Had a test run with my Real Me (unused for 2-3 years) and I logged in with a Verification sent to my phone so that wasn't too painful. I shall report back in a week or two.

Its not too bad IMHO, If youre not computer savvy you may take some time working through the realme bizzo
You need to either download a passport style pic or take one via your devices camera through Realme.
I took that option cause couldnt be faggd going to passport pic, hung a bed sheet on the wall to get the plain background thing.
Took a couple goes for it to accept my pic, 5 minutes or so it was all sorted.
It just seems dumb to me that you go through all this online with your passport etc and Realme to authenticate your online profile, but still need to physically go see the cops for signoff

Unbelievable is I think the word you are looking for. Lets make a song and dance about how easy it will be, then make it stupidly hard har har har. From the tiny sample of issues and errors we see on here - it would be really interesting to see the results of a system-wide 'health' audit on the accuracy of the data it contains so far at 20% approx. uptake.

I think it would be... enlightening to say the least. As I keep saying, no argument with the general concept of registration, provided it is easy, accurate, cheap and does what it says on the label without creating a new and different set of problems to those it was intended to solve. At this stage I have not seen any evidence that it will do this or can do this or even that the technology utilised to do what has been done so far is actually up to the task.

I don't know what you negative Nancy's are still whinging about.
It was easier than registering my car and ordering road user charges.
There are so many rigmaroles to gun ownership, using the register is not one of them if you just call them and get them to do their job rather than fluffing around with the website that they clearly haven't ironed out the kinks for.
The reason it would seem, that they've given us all this time before it becomes compulsory without a triggering event seems that so they're not inundated with too many registrations whilst working out the kinks.

As I said, great for you if you have factory stuff which is easy. It's when you have one-off and need to get them correctly listed is where I am hearing the issues are coming in. I understand the point you are making, but all this should have been ironed out prior to go live - or the entire thing paused to get it fixed. If you think of the sample size on here, vs the issues reported - it basically means that the entire dataset held in the database is compromised through poor accuracy. If you are calling them over the phone to get things corrected, correctly entered, or to correct transactions then it's not an online automated database and we are paying through the nose for a complete fraud in effect. As a taxpayer that also offends me deeply as what are we up to on this charade so far, probably north of a billion NZ $? Eventually the whole thing will come to a crashing stop if it's this rough and we are only in year two - that's the basic thing with databases as the bigger they are the more records are affected and the harder it is to fix the errors and glitches.

Are you taking the piss? Neither of those require a RealMe account for starters.
Imagine telling everyone here who faced issues they're a negative nancy because you had a good experience.
