    Cleaning my coach gun

I've just got a 12g coach gun for CAS. What's your advice for cleaning it? Rods, brushes and jags or bore snake. I use a bore snake for my 410, but only fire one shot at a time, when the dogs tree a possum.
I'm thinking I need a rod etc so what's a good set to get, bearing in mind it's a $300 shotgun?
Anyone got anything surplus they would like to off load?

boresnake will be fine.... Ive got one for all my shotties...the only time they get rod n mop is when Im away and have SxS in its old wooden case which happens to have old 2 piece wooden rod with brushes. a turkshead brush is awesome IF you have rough pitted bore and of plastic bits of wad stick in bore.... otherwise the snake does it fine.

just get a brush that fits the rifle rod that you use.
I use a 308 parker hale rod with the thread attachment for a 12g brush.
Or you can get a cheap 12g cleaning kit to use.

Hot water will be necessary if you decide to shoot black powder.

A bore snake is more than sufficient for a CAS shotgun, with the bonus that its quick and easy to use giving you more time to spend thoroughly cleaning your pistols and rifle. A rod and stiff brush would better remove plastic fouling, but let's face it, unless you are practicing often, you are only firing 25 rounds in a match, once a month or less...

Better advice would be to get a pistol cleaning rod with an adapter to fit a 12ga bore mop or slotted tip. Carry that around in your trolley at matches and clean your chambers after each stage. A couple of passes is enough. It helps the empties fall out easier. Depends on how serious about competing you are, but most shooters do not enjoy manually extracting a rogue case midway through a stage.

It took me a few years in the game before I learned this trick off some successful shooters and it soon became second nature after visiting the unloading table to load up my ammo strip and clean the shotgun chambers ready for the next stage.

I won a couple of shiny overall National Champion buckles and more than a few North Island Champion trophies so it certainly didn't hurt lol.

Thanks for the advice. That sounds like the plan.
