When l was guiding in America these were the " in " breed with wealthy Corn Farmers ,they were being used for Deer hunting & locating downed game much the same as we do here & in snow & icy water water fowl hunting so well suited to both of those,would have been early 2000's Mule Deer hunting when l first seen them there so well proven by now.The ones l saw were heavier in build than the Wire haired GSP's etc but do not know whether that was more to do with the Good Old Boy diet etc or their bloodline.
In Europe l hunted upland game with them a few times ,they are one of those breeds that stops regularly & looks at you deeply in the eyes as though they are as much in the planning of the hunt as you are,or calling you out for being clumsy or missing a easy shot ,they look great locked on to point
