Hopefully this has not happened, but it might have fallen down a hole.

I've had some good advice from the gentleman in Nelson about what to do next. I'll do my best with what time I can spare because we all love him very much, but we all accept that maybe he can't be found.
HOW DID IT GO FOUND THE DOG ????
Thanks everyone for the interest. I just got back from four nights away searching and following advice kindly given by Donald the Tracker. Sadly I couldn't find Ted, or Ted couldn't find me. Now I have to get back to family and work. Me and my wider family and friends have put word out into the community so maybe some info will come through. The DOC reserve is 1000s of hectares and I could only explore the one corner he would most likely be. It's sad but we're not heartbroken as he's 12 years old and anything could have taken him at this stage in his life. Then there's the chance he may show up somewhere but I won't dwell on that too much.
Very sorry to hear that mate, but you should be pretty proud of the effort you've gone to in trying to find Ted. Hopefully that allows you to sleep a bit easier about the situation. Fingers crossed he does pop out somewhere!
bunji likes this.
I lost a black labrador in the Ruahine Ranges years ago.He snapped his string while I was in a hut during the night. The Ruahine Range is 96,000ha.
I went back to the area every day for 14 days yelling and calling my dog leaving clothing along the trail to the hut.On the 14th day I was walking out and heard some rustling and it was my dog following me! He was cowering like he was going to get told off! Big hugs!! He stunk like possom!
Hope old Ted has a good out come.

@Dundee - it didn't happen to be near kiritaki hut did it?
I was in there with my dog (who slept in the hut with me). On both nights I could hear another dog drinking out of the water bowl I had put outside. I got up and couldn't see anything and didn't see any during the day, but by he sound I definitely think it was a dog based on the sound (unless deer or pigs sound very similar when drinking?)

Good news, a hunter found Ted a few kms away from where last seen. An ad on Facebook meant we could get in touch. His mum and dad dropped Ted to me last night. He's skinny and not as energetic but fine otherwise.
bloody awesome!
buy the guy a bottle of the good stuff
Plurry fantasmalastic.... That news is super cool to hear. THANK YOU for letting us know.

Cool.
Told you Facebook would do it.
They usually turn up somewhere.
Overkill is still dead.
There's no news better than that....Ted will be very happy to be tucked up at home again.
