    Dog Safe Herbicide

Hi all. I'm looking for a good dog safe weed and grass killer spray to use around the house? Any recommendations?

pig singe/flame thrower on LPG bottle.....gobsmacked by how satisfying and effective it is.... I believe I only need to scorch the weed and the sunlight does the rest...

I just use roundup and give it a day or 2 before I let the dogs out that area of the garden, if I'm spraying the edges I cut the grass short first so the dogs don't try to chew it.

Glyphosate is safe around dogs. 3 day withholding period for stock to enable active ingredient to translocation fully within plant.

Boiling water or the gas torch. Firework fell over on me the other day, that killed a couple of weeds primo.

Gly is fine. Just let it dry after spraying.

Put a teaspoon of sunlight detergent into the brew of glyphosate, it works as a wetting agent and helps it adsorb faster into the plant

    With respect, it really doesn't.

Gly has some surfactant built into it, which for spot spraying is plenty enough really. If you're concerned just add a higher rate of gly which will increase the amount of surfactant.

Secondly, gly requires an acidic environment to work. Adding something alkaline like detergent actually reduces it's efficacy.

In a backyard scenario you're really not going to get chem in any faster than the time it takes (which for gly is up to 6 hours). In hot weather spray in the evening and avoid spraying within a few hours of rain and you should be fine.

To the OP, I use gly around my house, sometimes mixed with a little carfentrazone to help brown out some broadleaves. I had some KambaM (dicamba and MCPA) which I used on my kikuyu, but did get some damage. Kike is tough so it came back though.

As BH said and from someone who has spent a lifetime in the industry, just use gly, follow the directions, all is good.

There are far more dangerous things than Roundup that we use willingly everyday... like alcohol. Just saying, the latter is a known human carcinogen, aside from the bad judgement side effects.
