Back on the farm now, so had to get my boys (4&2) their first dog, a huntaway. They named him Maui

Mr 2 loves dogs, any opportunity to give them a hug or climb in their kennels he’ll grab it

Best mates @JoshC, always great to start kids of with dogs when they’re young.

There’s a strong chance I’ll come home with a Huntaway pup soon. One of the best bitches I’ve ever known is whelping as I type, she’s retired now from a 9,000 sheep hill country farm and given top dog privileges on the deck of the homestead, which says a lot for the high regard in which she was held on the job. And the sire is a local legend. So they’ll be good dogs for sure. But as always I’m very wary of bringing a pup into the home where there’s already two house dogs, the Staffys of course, might not end well. Hmmmm.

No longer with us since 2010 but I just found this photo of my old mate Sam who was my constant companion for 14 years, seen here just daring someone to try and get into my (his!) Hi Lux. Customers at my Ch-Ch shop years ago will remember him keeping his beady eyes on them! Note the little block of wood that he has rescued from the workshop just to keep his teeth in good nick. 'Gonetropo' will remember him!

Isn't it funny how a dog's owner cant seem to smell their own kuri- bit like your own farts are pure gold.Gundoc I well remember Sam giving me the evil every time on entry, so he certainly earned his keep re unwanted tax collectors, visiting mormans & other unwanted tire kickers. No offence intended, but your happy snap of Sam jogged my offactory memory.Plenty of water has passed under the bridge now to bravely say HE WAS ONE SMELLY DOG!

Sideshow, mine are none working sausages. Great noses and I reckon they would make great rabbit and fox dogs. Really strong hunting instinct in them. They would be truck hunters though!
