I unreservedly apologise. I looked at that comment a couple of days ago, mulled it over and still completely missed the humour

That off side shoulder looks smashed. Its amazing how they can travel after taking a hit like that. What caliber?

Well, where do I begin? Tui is a Vizsla heading dog cross with a tiny sniff of Lab, fortunately not inheriting the gluttony gene. She is very friendly, biddable and smart. A very good healthy cross, as is any dog that has a NZ working dog breed in it. At five years she has just filled out but also slowed down - only good for 40 km/hr where she could hold 48 km when younger. Only vice would be that she was too bouncy and prone to jumping up and tearing around with uncontrolled excitement when younger. Very agile, surefooted and quick out of trouble with 20/20 vision. Will retrieve Rabbits, Ducks, Hares, Possums, Cats. Will point and indicate. The only fault would be a light coat that is not quite warm enough but it does stay very clean. I have thought that mating her with a GWP would be an excellent cross, they are a bit tougher with a natural throat hold and warmer coat. That cross would counter the 'standoff'y ' nature of the GWP and be something like an improved wirehair Vizsla. - Just my thoughts, I would be interested to know what others think of GWP crosses ???
Sadly the GWP's don't win dog beauty pageants
As to ability, she was very very good but living on a deer farm has confused her as to which deer can be killed and which can't. A couple of days in the hills last weekend with myself and Mopheadrob had her back on 'all Deer must be killed' mode although she dragged a possum out of a stump when with Rob and killed that to disgrace herself some what.
The spiker was shot with a 270 at about 120mtrs. I was surprised that it got up and ran after the hind. Tui went straight to the point where it had dropped at the shot and the ground was covered in about four cupful's of blood spray. There was continuous blood all the way to where she found him, no smashed shoulder but broken just above the elbow. You are right Tahr, sometimes it is surprising how far they can go - he just bled out, depressurised on the run and collapsed but much faster than a heart shot. Not a big spiker, but a good eater. Full credit to Rob who carried all the gear back in his pack and the two rifles, which in total was more than the weight of the deer that I carried.

    Tilly’s offended, rightly so.
He nui to ngaromanga, he iti to putanga.

You depart with mighty boasts, but you come back having done little.
Sounds like a typical hunting trip !

@Tahr, Would you like to borrow / take with you, Tui when hunting down this way. It would be interesting to know how her breed combination compares to a GWP

Kind offer but I wouldn't want the responsibility.

My Tilly dog dislocated her hip yesterday. 4 weeks bed rest. Bit of a bugger.

I trust you, otherwise I wouldn't have made the offer. If an accident happens despite normal care it happens, with more chance of an accident on the road than the hill anyway.
