@Gibo and whoever else has experience with the GSP breed, how would you describe their temperament? Do they need as much exercise & attention as the velcro Vizsla?
@CalibreWalker I had a GSP prior to getting my Vizsla and the difference is night and day. My GSP only had 2 modes - on or off, he had incredible drive. In comparrison my Vizsla is laid back but still energetic.
Cool. Loving the pics. Another dog will eventually be added to the family but I've got a while to wait yet.
I have had 3 gsp dogs, all different from low hunt drive, medium and over the top hard to control driven to hunt.they have the same characteristics but different temperaments.

Starting the New Year the way he intends to finish it, full bore.
My boy Oscar, far too stupid to be a gun dog. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...3a22c4c8e1.jpg

My boy spent the first year and a half acting like his ears were painted on and I thought he might be a bit of a dummy. He listens now so was just a slow starter. He's half Lab and half Visla but a 100% goofbag :)

Bird dogs gotta bird dog.
Little dog ( I'm calling Jessie) who gave the neighours the "finger" and came to live with me is finally paying her way. Her first legit caught and killed rat :) I can see the advantage of small dogs now since my boy would have had no chance under the roofing iron :XD:

Blue heeler?
Blue healer x id say
Oh never thought about blue healer, I think there is Jack Russel and a bit of chihuahua. She has the brown dot above the eyes which also usually means Huntaway/Rottie/Dashun'd etc...
Those dots are linked to a dominant gene since if they have almost any huntaway/rottie etc.. in them the dots will appear. We have a beaded collie huntaway cross at work and you can still faintly see the dots above her eyes

Took Nikau for a recon trip on Saturday to check out a couple areas i wanted to explore more during the roar. Turned out to be a good day out, but no deer unfortunately. Wind was swirling a bit and Nikau worked it when ever a gust would come through. His ground scent work is amazing. Nose down and will follow trails and lead me straight into the area's the deer have been. Sign tends to get fresher and fresher to further we go. Unfortunately, we end up with the wind up our bums and i have to turn him around a few times. It just seems like he knows what we're doing without having put an animal on the deck over him yet.
Do others dogs rub their necks and roll in scented up areas? ie deer beds, hind shit, etc.?

Yep dogs rolling in crap is a "thing" :XD:
Actually they do it to disguise their own smell to help with hunting. They same way some of those semi nutty bow hunters spray themselves with deer piss :wtfsmilie:
The only exception to that is the bearded collie I posted above who during a palatability trial ( we were testing dog pretzels ) she took one out of her bowl and dropped it on the ground and rolled in it. In all my years owning dogs I have never seen them roll in something that wasn't crap and or disgusting dead animals or some sort of repulsive shit.
This is Brandy, 6-7 years old. Bred by Dudley Morgan . I’ve only trained her for deer because she was a spastic swimmer but has decided she can swim last year and retrieve a duck but won’t touch them on the land. She thinks I can use my own legs to get them. Attachment 268324

It's a hard life being a black dog on a hot day
Our black lab would be in the trough on a hot day and the other idiots would lay in the baking heat panting . Not sure on who felt the heat the most but do wonder about the intelligence of the vizsla and 2 border terriers
