Cant post pic of my dog probably for low post count.
This is my dog Woody, GSPxViszla, currently 9 months old, stalking apprentice.
Training going well, still not quite onto "heel" but recall, leave and other basic commands going pretty well so far. Stock proofed apart from sheep which needs some more work. He loves hares and gets sidetracked with their scent unfortunately. Very keen on birds too but they off limits and I can tell when he is after them. Possums are not a problem so far. Gun trained now (started with sound conditioning when he was 9 weeks and than from .22 progressed to .270) and lots of paddock blood-tracking done. At the moment on 2m lead when in bush which is very challenging with the scrubby and windfall shit I normally stalk... He would otherwise just run in big circles so trying to discourage that...
Last weekend I shot first deer over him and he found it (although after but of a struggle). So far so good :)
@Pete82 these guys are bred (gsp, vizsla, pointers) to work in big circles ahead, so provided you have a good way of keeping him in range, eventually with some time under his belt give him some room to move in front. You may want to run a garmin alpha device and TT25 collar for this (good home pet insurance), or a longer line. 2m is probably not long enough tbh. I'll let my guy range out 10-20 metres in front pretty regularly, he'll slow down once he's onto something. But that came with decent control on range first. Pretty stressful initially, but you get there.
Happy chappy just after sunrise this morning

Lost our GSP about 2 months ago. Wife wanted a whippet for her dog and as a mate for Cooper (GSP) so we got Monty. When my boy died we looked for another whippet and ended up with Freddy. Monty is solid in the bush which was a surprise. They are keen hunters and very quite.

Nui living her best life. Absolute ripper of a stag taken over the weekend. Still in soft velvet... Was good to thin out a few numbers and leave some promising young stags to do their thing.

Day 3 of the cone. She has now convinced the wife she's allowed on the bed.

They're delicious. Hard to describe the flavor, fairly mild I'd say though. Usually pretty tender too.
Lol the bucket of shame :) haven't seen a dog that doesn't look embarrassed wearing one :XD:

Sylvie, wirehaired vizsla, nearly 4 years old. Even with a sub-average trainer, an exceptional dog.
The way I see it, it took me less than a decade to figure out how to use this forum, so I count that as a win. Sylvie has helped me find tahr/reds/fallow/pigs/wallabies/chamois (dead and alive), but my proudest moment was when my hat fell off and rolled several metres down a steep hill I had just walked up. I asked her to bring it to me. She walked down, picked it up and brought it to me. Had never taught her anything like that. Saved myself a few kilojoules that day.
Welcome to the forum, that's a good looking fluffy you have there :)
@Pistol, this may be her brother. Breeder was Wharekuri kennels?Attachment 274629
