Yep it's a curly bugger. Is that a liver chestnut colour?

It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!

Munsey was closer Dundee, but good guessat least you didn't call him a labradoodle like one of the boys did last week!
She loves the free fresh wind in her hair; Life without care. She's broke but it's oke; that's why the lady is a tramp.
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
He's a Murray river retriever Dougie - a gundog landrace that survived only in Australia for at least 140 years. When you say a curly coat to an Australian, this is what they think of, not the English type we have. He is registered with the association over there, who keeps a breeding registry of them for the true working bred dogs. They are also conducting a DNA sampling program as well, that involves 100s of dogs already, which has shown it to be a distinct breed. Gus is part of that.
A very healthy long-lived breed, known to regularly live to 16-18, the oldest current known one lived to 20!
Pointer, where did they originate from ...? He is a lovely looking dog...

The concensus after the DNA testing is that they have their origins in the now extinct norfolk retriever, as well as the water spaniel and the curly coat retriever. Its old enough to be part of the make up of all of those modern breeds.
What gets me is the old pictures from the 1800s, they haven't changed in type at all. I thought I'd grab one before they become a registered kennel club breed, because they are guaranteed to bugger it right up!

From what I'm told Tahr, you are living a long time already
As for establishing them here, I'll see how this guy performs first. I've just found out that there is one more well bred one here in NZ that is registered too so that's a good start. If this one goes well I'll send for a well bred bitch.
Cleo....... much better behaved and relaxed when she's in the bush or been in the bush than when she's at home.
