I'd have to check with the missus but I believe so, came from a breeder down Invercargill way if memory serves me correct, apparently black Whippets are not sought after as show dogs but we love him to bits he's such a character

This is Brian (Mr Brian Happy Pants Jandel ) Not an image of all of him obviously but it does give an indication of his 'I'm on the job boss' mood look. Most of the time he's more in the mode of the second pic. Pointer / Heading dog cross.

Nikau still hasn't had all his vax's so we're hesitant to get him out around town just yet. We've taken him to our parents places to give him a change or scenery, etc.

Last night a few moths were flying around a light making some noise. He showed a good medium eyed stalk and then locked up on them as he got close, 1 front paw up then another step and locked up again on the other front paw.
Today was his 1st time on a long line. He was excited but got grumpy with the long line. Felt like he had freedom but I was quick to take it away from him. He was quick to learn though and knew exactly what i wanted. I have been finding it hard to put in work with him with my kids around. As expected though, both the kids and pup are excited and easily distracted.

Bloody hell this dog is impressing me with just how smart and fast learning he is.

Have you tried a longline on the kids? Apparently shock collars are frowned upon

He is an awesome dog, showing a lot of potential. The cocky had his blood lines all written down and i had no bloody idea who they all were. His mother is tied back to Lloyd Smith's Ace. A quick google search showed me who Ace is and his colourings are very similar, so hopefully there's some more potential to come from him. A family member 1st and hunting companion i look forward to leading me around the hills.

Father and Father-inlaw have asked if i'll give him the chop. I plan on keeping him whole, is this a good idea or not? It'd be nice to possibly get a pup out of him if he proves to be a great dog.

You will get a whole lot of different takes on whens the best time to fix your dog, if at all.

I have discussed with a few vets who are also mates and for me I would keep the dogs whole until at least 18montsh old to let them grow. I neutered a dog at 8 months and he was tall lanky and skinny, no health problems but he didnt have the muscle his litter mates did that were not neutered. A dog that grows with hormones tends to be a bit more stocky and rumour has it bone density is better? If I get a dog next time round I will keep him whole unless.

My current Bitch I have let have 3 heats, she will get fixed this year as I dont want to breed from her, She has finished growing at 2 years old.
