    Ponsonby Gundogs in Hawke's Bay

Has anyone had any experience with them?

A friend of mine has a Vizsla pup from them and it thinking about rehoming it due to unfavourable circumstances and they want to know if I'm keen. From the website it looks like they do a far bit of showing but they say they also endeavor maintain the hunting/working traits in their breeding. I want to make sure as best I can that the dog will be of good stock.

    Thanks
    Yeah nah bro

If they are so awesome, why has the breeder not requested his dog back?
She loves the free fresh wind in her hair; Life without care. She's broke but it's oke; that's why the lady is a tramp.

Mate I almost always hunt with a dog.
The one thing I would say is make sure you are a hunter who almost always finds deer otherwise you are going to struggle with what the dog is telling you.

    At least your honest mate
I read that post again mate, and it came across like I new it all I don't.......
But the dog ain't going to make you a better hunter until you've spent many hours Watchn it and you have a fair idea what's out there.
My opinion having followed your posts would be be put in a bit more time before you go down the dog road mate.
Just my opinion others will disagree

Spend some time ,get to know the dog so you can read what he's telling you .
The dog with his breeding will do instinctively what you want him to do.
The training is done & in his blood line.I honestly don't see a problem .

I tend to agree with the other guys. It will make your life a hell of a lot harder getting a dog while you are still starting out. Put a few deer on the deck first and then worry about it later, you still have plenty of time. When I got mine it was like learning to hunt all over again and we struggled for a while but its slowly coming together. In all honesty I think I got my dog to early as well but that's in the past. You'll get there man just keep at it! But if you have your heart set on it then go for it!
