    Carbon Elites

Decided on a whim to do a carbon wrapped barrel as I didn't mind the look and finish of them, decided even more when I got my hands on some Shilen barrels in light contour so decided to go for it. Also got my heavier varmint barrel done with others as well to bulk it up in the A3 stock.

Had played around with carbon sleeves on others rifles as well that wanted the same look also done couple of full over barrel suppressed rifles with carbon tube.

Heres my what I call Carbon Elite hunter rifle and the Varmint

Can be long or short action, Remington 700, Tikka T3 and Sako A7 only

    Specs are:
    Rem 700 S/A
    Trued Action
    Sako extractor fitted (small)
    Senator 75 Carbon stock
    Bedded with alloy pillars
Shilen select match barrel 24", Carbon wrapped (this one is chambered in 7mm-300 WSM 1.9 twist)
    3" Magazine
    Fluted bolt (straight or spiral)
Radial Brake and invisifit thread cap (threaded M16x1)
    Target crown
Talley rings epoxied to action (will be lapped)
Weight 2.31kg bare with rings (5.2lbs for the old school)
    Guarantee 1/2 MOA

    Enjoy

    Hunter $4500

    Varmint Style

Certainly light and looks good too.
How do the resins in the carbon handle heat? Is it something you would have to be mindful of on the range or gongs?

I am excited about the prospect of carrying a 5.2oz rifle, but terrified of the recoil

If you get it that hot to worry about the resins it will be the last thing on your mind, a re-barrel for a worn out barrel would be the first.
Not a issue but not made for that sort of thing anyway, but can do it like any other hunting rifle
