No its mate, its a vent rib. The article Friwi posted explains. I didn’t realise that the original ones on the 600s were an early form of plastic and were completely useless. But @Friwi that shortened vent rib in the photo can’t be original can it, because the Remington dropped the vent rib on the Mohawks didn’t they? If its original but just shortened, then it can’t be a Mohawk?

There’s a very gc Remington 600 in a safe at a property I visit from time-to-time, looks like its hardly been used. It never comes out and there’s no ammo for it. It has a steel vent rib. Haven’t really given it a second tought until I read the article. Couldn’t remember what its chambered in but thought hmmm and rang the bloke and the reason its never used is its a .350 Rem Mag. That explains the lack of ammo. Apparently its mid 60s. Kicks like an artillery cannon. Obviously not original as the vent rib is not plastic.

I’m thinking it might be worth something, despite it being impossible to feed and having savage recoil.
