I seem to remember they had some accuracy problems (less accuracy than what they wanted) - there seems to be something in the short barrelled bench rest rifles for pure accuracy. Yep, longer barrel, even bull barrel, means more potential for barrel whip (just think sheer length:thickness ratio), and accuracy goes down.

Some velocity advantage should be gained from the longer barrel, as well as there being less pressure exiting behind the bullet as it emerges at the muzzle and thus upsetting it less. I suspect they would eventually have gained their desired accuracy by dropping pressure and velocity a bit. Hitting your target makes you feel much better than chronometer numbers do.

I saw that yesterday thought 'hmm that barrel is rather long' n carried on. No interest in it whatsoever n I like guns.

how long do you have to wait between pulling the trigger and the bullet leaving the barrel?

did they make bechrest guys move bench back 10"??????
