Pagers are a nightmare here. At one point I had four to test which were most consistent. One call saw one of two flex pagers activate and they were about an inch apart

If i could have a full time job shooting pests i'm up for over time.
Was interesting. I've only had good experience in my brigade but it's pretty clear the other brigades near us are run very differently. Eventually they will run out of vollies if that is the real culture and it continues, be interesting to see how things pan out after a bullshit outfit like 3d have done their best to get some ratings

Vollies doing what vollies do well - making things happen.
A big 3 days at Pukekohe under the sun and no shade.
The track temp in the pits on Sunday was 48deg. The day before was hotter.
The only payment was an unlimited supply of drinking water and getting up close to the action

some awesome critter set off a smoke flair on the top of mt manaia this arvo so guess what happened. Up we went with stretcher (on my back), rescue line, trauma and resus kits only to find the spent canister an no one around.
400m of elevation and 1,110 steps on a nice warm afternoon wearing overalls, boots and carrying our helmets.

I did a pager test last week for the crew and found a couple of weak spots (flat Batteries). I use a pager every day for my work, it's the same pager I use for police , medical, fire and security both alarms and phone lines . Couldn't work with out it.

That wind is playing havoc and making the RFO's nervous and twitchy. The other day at a rural fire, embers were carried 400m and started a spot fire.
1 from the other night. Started as a car fire and the wind carried it. Unlike @BRADS we have ours at a more gentlemanly hour so we are home at 2.30am and sleep before work
