Good stuff, any tips for nose/ears? Had my form and other bits arrive today ready to do my first.

Make sure you open up the ears all the way to the edge then you can get your filler to fill properly. Same applies to liners. Thin down the nose and inner nostril skin properly. Make sure there is enough space in the nose cavity of the mannequin but not too open. We all have 101 different little tricks we do, would be hard to list it all. You will learn a lot by doing and stuffing up. Remember everything can be fixed just have to get on with it right away. I have pulled apart and rebuilt a few things I didn't like on the first round.

Also clay up for the fleshy parts

Nothing is tough about having a 70 lb bow and looking like an uncoordinated praying mantis while trying to draw it back.

Lot of lessons learnt from this one, feeling good going into the next.
Is that a form from Australia?
NZ Taxidermy Association competition is coming up on the 26th of September, if you can make it up to there it's a good place to pick people's brains about stuff.

Can tell from the sternum shape and the face. Did you carve out the eye socket? A lot of their mannequins have eyes and eye lids, if you just clay over it the eyes will be protuding way out of the head.

The comp is in Taupo, it is a small venue but if you approach the right people the right way you can make good contacts.

Do you have any more animals to make?
