No no no no!!! Don't bother with Dacron expenses.
Dental floss does fine for the longtitudinal strands. Making a long loop will automatically form the eyes at each end.
The coiled outer strands however must be applied with a lot of love and patience, round and round, from one end to the other. Some synthetic thread for that, avoid cotton of course as it takes on water. Once string finished, rub up and down with beeswax, or just neutral shoe polish.
