    DIY Bowstring for kids bow

    Morning all - being that my pointy projectiles normally are pushed by powder, I don't venture into this part of the forum much
    Recently I got a box lot at an estate auction that included a kids fibreglass (i think) longbow, must be just over 1m, came with 3 arrows.
    Owes me less than $20 - so should be amusing for the kids to have a play with.
    Did not come with a bowstring - any thoughts on what I can use for a cheap and cheerful string?

    cheers

    bow strings are normally made of dacron, and cheap as hell at aliexpress though you will have to find the right length. paracord may be an option if the poundage is light but i suspect it may be a little stretchy.

    @thejavelin,

    No no no no!!! Don't bother with Dacron expenses.

    Dental floss does fine for the longtitudinal strands. Making a long loop will automatically form the eyes at each end.

    The coiled outer strands however must be applied with a lot of love and patience, round and round, from one end to the other. Some synthetic thread for that, avoid cotton of course as it takes on water. Once string finished, rub up and down with beeswax, or just neutral shoe polish.
