Anyone have experience with 9mm suppressor?

    Hi team
I’m a new member here just asking if anyone here has had experience with a 9mm pistol suppressor ?
They are considerably more expensive than standard suppressors , is it worth the cost?
Any advice / experiences good and bad would help , also what would be a good brand to go for when I do pick one up?

    Thanks

9mm pistol suppressors usually incorporate an integral 'Nielson Device' which is a moveable mounting system that allows the semi-automatic system to function properly. This requires a good bit of precision engineering, hence the extra cost. A conventional muzzle can exerts to much forward pressure on the barrel to allow a recoil-operated pistol to function properly. Pistol suppressors are only marginally effective because of the combination of the short barrel and their compact size not having sufficient internal volume to absorb all the gases of firing.

The question that needs to be asked is why both with a can on a pistol in this country? We can only shoot pistols at a range and noise isn't an issue there. Combine that with the general loss of accuracy and reliability a suppressor introduces in a pistol and the absolute PITA come holster time and there's really not much point in bothering.

    Is it for a pistol?

I use an A-Tec SMG on my 9mm rifle which is fantastic. It doesn't have a nielsen device because it's for fixed barrels - not browning style tilting ones like on semi auto pistols. Still expensive because A-Tec. DPT also do a basic nielsen-less 9mm one too which is fine.

I may be wrong but i thought a few years back i saw some crazy planning decision regarding a club range somewhere that had a dB limit. if so could have lead to members needing to investigate for certain calibers/combinations. Likely pre stupidity (2019) but getting old and confused.

Pre-stupidity i had a custom made can for a 9mm M4 upper from a gent in Blenheim. It improved accuracy at 50 to 75 meters considerably, shot timers and goats both hated it though.
