    scope has to be -cant be range finder - your eye would give you a good indication if it was giving incorrect ranges - forget to readjust elevation settings ? last shot 476 m next 300 m - fault...

    just an idea - i have seen a job my mate did with a big peacock - he carefully removed tail feathers and spread them out exactly in order on piece of pale blue painted ply - looked damn effective up...
