Barry the hunter liked post by Gamehunter On thread : Moose
As a 17yr old, this city boy went on his very first hunting trip into the awe inspiring Ureweras. My first question was if I saw a moa, do I shoot it? I was told by the oldest (and wisest) of...

Barry the hunter liked post by Dingo On thread : DOC land - The real Hunters bragging rights?
I don't think you can call anyone a 'true hunter' over another hunter. I agree in the sense that after experiencing both types of hunting, private is far easier than public land hunting. For that...

Deciding that Sika were a tad on the quiet side this year my young sidekick and I decided to head out in search of a Red stag instead. Running a bit late we set up camp in the evening and had an...

Got this big 6 point sika stag this morning, big brows and plenty of length, 35 inches! Shame he didn’t have a couple of extra points. Pretty happy with him anyway. 273978

Barry the hunter liked post by Springy On thread : Trip Report - daughter's first deer
My daughter's first deer! She’s been putting in a lot of effort — countless weekends spent target shooting at various ranges. Getting really comfortable with her kid-sized Elude .223 setup. ...

Barry the hunter liked post by No.3 On thread : Insanity rules in the vetting process
The rehabilitation discussion is really interesting - as a firearms licence holder the conversations I've been a part of would indicate that the "clean slate" system would not be applicable, yet in...

Barry the hunter liked post by gmm On thread : Registry to stay??
The register will not be scrapped as the wider public have been sold on the idea it's a public safety issue. Whether or not its effective or fit for purpose is irrelevant as in this world, facts are...

Barry the hunter liked post by whanahuia On thread : Registry to stay??
I think the registry will stay. The general public really are not interested in weather it will achieve anything or not. It seems like a good idea, and increasingly gun ownership will struggle for...
