Thanks for all the responses so far. Reading through them all, something about skinning a cat springs to mind... Good to hear how different people approach it. My reloading sensei (as caberslash...

EBF wrote an interesting piece on load development for the now defunct guns and hunting magazines website which has got me rethinking load development. He said don't worry about groups initally...

Clearly only very few of you have handled a Krag (not surprising as they fairly thin on the ground in NZ) but nothing else comes close, smoother than a silk worm's singlet!

There is no one answer. Figure on roughly 10% steps of the nominal load. So yes, catridge capacity dependant. 0.5 gr for say 308 sized, for a 22 Hornet 0.2 gr dropping to 0.1 gr when approaching...

I dont bother with less than half grain change in larger case...or quarter grain in little one.....unless you chasing the last little bit of accuracy or velocity its not worth it in my book.

Tikka. After owning a Tikka for a while, I went to buy a Ruger American Ranch and the action was horrible in comparison. I learnt the difference between a cheap and a mid-range gun that day.

Nikon prostaff BDC reticle. Bloody good. Getting harder to find as nikon have stopped making scopes. Serious shooters had one in the cabinet for just over 3spot. The spot on app is pretty handy.

My Hawke works well. It's the 3-9 one. Turrets are capped and underneath it isn't numbered, so dialling it is risky as it'd be easy to lose track. Illuminated reticle for low light is handy - it...
