Well I can finally close out this thread - I think I'm done. Stock is checkered (I don't think it came out too bad for a first effort), rifle is assembled and sighted in. A few photos for your...

I loaded RL26 with them but settled on Hodgdon superproformance as it gave the same speed and is easier to get. Was getting just short of 3000fps with both powders from memory. Sent from my...

Leupold has released a new scope in the last week. I'd been hoping for an FFP VX5 or VX6 scope for a few years now or at least a nice MRAD version of the 2-12. Looks like quite a nice scope but...

I'm running RL16 with 150 ELDx in my 22in bbl 7-08, getting 2750fps. Tight wee groups. Happy with that. Slower powders can work well, especially with heavier pills.

I used a lot of R17 through my 7-08 with great success and velocity and that is a good margin slower burning than Superformance. So I doubt Superformance is too slow for 7-08.

Having had a 243 for 40yrs in various rifles I'd suggest 18" as your shortage. Reasoning is you can shoot 100grn partition at good speeds for big deer and tahr without having to much speed loss.
