None of my rifles have recoil pads, I found I was getting quite bruised during range sessions with the 308 so got a Pachmayr slip-on recoil pad, it makes quite a difference.

With the SOD i find it easier to work in MOA rather than clicks, because that what marked on the dial. E.g. 3.25 MOA rather than 13 clicks for 300m, I just dial to one click past the 3 on the dial....
