Phil_H you could try taping a toilet roll over end of light maybe cut top half out so you have shadow falling on barrel but full light everywhere else....sort of a scope sunshade in reverse.

Speaking to people who really know this stuff the overriding comment has been that the best thing is to retro fit a good quality mountain bike with an E bike conversion. Rather than buy an E bike....

spring type air rifles are awful on scopes. a scope is deigned for conventional recoil but in an air rifle (also crossbows) the recoil initially is forward then a backwards pulse. this has whiplash...
