For me it comes down to noise. Subsonic 22LR is silent and reliable out to 75 metres (for some, 100 metres and even further). No issues killing rabbits with head or chest shots.

get an air rifle...like the slug gun you had as a kid..it WILL build muscle memory which is what you need to do.... a hundred rounds of .22lr is alot of fun too and again builds muscle memory.......

If doing small amounts... Say 25 or less just a fine piece of steel wool and something like a Lee case holder that goes in a drill chuck. Once you are doing hundreds get a tumbler
