They are quieter, smell less, generally more efficient, like lower speed operation better. No mucking about with fuel mix. What you gain in motor weight you often recover with lower fuel load....

Electric might be low weight for the motor, but the batteries will more than make up for that saving. I'd look at air cooled 4 cycle, get them in the 3-5HP range now.

A small reliable 2 or 4 stroke would be my choice, that mud motor looks about $1,000 over the odds to me. (boatie since childhood)
