If you are reloading the sierra 63gr SMPs are absolutely deadly on deer - you do loose a bit of meat to them though. Being a short squat little projectile they stabilise fine in a 1:12" twist barrel...

Dawg Try the 60gr load done by Belmont Ammo, uses a Hornady pill and runs really well out of a 1:12 as a rule. I've used it a lot over the years in my 1:12 Sako, it's a great load.

As said earlier. Remington factory 55 grain works well enough. I've never had a deer walk away from one yet, just go for neck shots or vital area and you'll be safe.

My Father has used Winchester 55gr varmint for many years with great succses , even tho they are frangible I am not sure they would be as frangible as hornadys 53gr vmax which may be a step too far?
