it depends on the type of hunting i guess. Bushhunting i believe you need to have a round chambered. too noisy and slow to load otherwise.

Hunting (even on my own) I do the 1/2 open bolt trick. See an animal and it's easy to quietly close the bolt the rest of the way. Never carry that way until I'm in the actual hunting area though....
