    Grandpa Mac, Yes that is a great way to transition to start getting setup while you have good cash flow and more youth. Also let’s you buy in earlier and that can have benefits.

    If the 6.5 in the 06 case behaves like the 6.5/284 then RL22, 2209 and 2213 are your top 3 powders. In the 284 case most blokes are shooting above book max loads. Me included.

    Get it salted ASAP. Otherwise you may / will get hair slip. If not have time now to salt put it in the freezer double bagged to stop freezer burn and then thaw and salt when you have time to tan it

    I had a metford long Tom action original with the thumb safety. It had a early Enfield 10 shot mag. Originally probably was a flush 5 shorter though. In my opinion the 5 shot mags do not look right.
