Managed a few days in the Huxley end of March. Have been meaning to get in there for a look for a while. Saw a few deer and chamois. Nothing big enough to chase after but a great spot for a look....

Got a Koaro with with oversized tubes and a Kokopelli nirvana both self bailing. The Koaro is way more stable especially with a bit of weight on. The Kokopelli although very well made was very...

Went back, on first light we had a stag come out in the exact same spot that we saw him the week prior but it wasn't the original one sadly. Still good fun

Another stag for Spence. Early birthday present before he turned 9 today. Fairly typical Ruahine stag. Pretty exciting for the young fulla as he came charging in roaring his head off. 273838

Lots of typical East coast replies there. I despise the just feeding the family excuse, usually quite a bit is spent on petrol or diesel and equipment, not to mention effort, to get to the poaching...

If you don't go back, he'll definitely be there. If you do go back, then he's probably gone. Hope that helped :)

No big trips for me this year, just a few day hunts and overnighters. Still managed to get onto a few animals and have some fun with friends and family. Mostly hunted on open public land blocks this...

Found a dozen gutbags in our 2nd period block, Drake Flat. Still plenty of animals around though, most flooding out right on dark.

My kit for a week weighs about 11kg minus food- which is eaten before trip out. I bone out all meat before cary out, and will carry a reasonable max of 35-40 kg of meat. So all up around 50kg. I...
